Weekly Roundup: first edition

Hello friends! (I'm your Vitameatavegamin girl! Oh, is that not what this post is? My bad.) As you may or may not have noticed, this blog has been off the map recently. Life happened to me, and so it was put on the back burner. Ok, taken off the stove and probably out of the kitchen. But, it's back in a new incarnation. Fridays, I'll be talking about things I liked that week with more or less the same categories depending on what was good. So without further ado, here is the first edition...

Hello finals week...

Music: "Curing the Monday Blues" playlist which I have been playing for the last week and a half because it's finals week and despite it being Friday, I am still curing the Monday blues. Listen to it on rdio, which is another great recent music discovery. It's like spotify but they offer a student discount for ad-free and mobile playing. Also, the playlists are better. And not just cause mine are on there.

Food: Spicy Chickpea and Sour Tomato Curry. Absolutely delicious over roasted spaghetti squash with a crusty baguette and a reasonably priced red table wine. Plus, the flavors get even better in leftovers. Also I've been living by the cooking mantra "put a poached egg on it"and the evidence can be found at my instagram (shameless plug, I know).

Reads: I had my senior seminar final this week so I have been immersed in the Oxford Anthology of Roman Literature. I recommend it for anyone even vaguely interested in Classics. At least read Virgil. As far as articles go, I distinctly remember this one (yes, from Cosmo) on college dating culture. Don't necessarily agree with everything presented, but it was interesting.

Film: 2010's The Trip. I was recently shown this movie and I've been showing it to everyone since. One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Also, a sequel where they go to Italy is supposedly coming soon!

Fashion: Finals Week is fairly unforgiving to my style, not to mention, I'm usually gorging myself on brie cheese so I'm a lot fatter than usual. But I've been pretty regularly rocking the Madewell Skinny Skinny Zip Jeans in pool wash because they literally do not stretch out and I only have to wash them because they probably smell. Yes, they're that good. As far as coveting, it is entirely too early for swimsuits and I'm still full from all the brie, but it is consistently 70+ degrees in California, so I've been eyeing the Grid Dot French Top and Bikini in vibrant flame from J.Crew. And their vintage pajama sets. Because it's finals week and all I want to do is sleep.

Word: ostensibly |äˈstensiblē; əˈsten-| adverb [ sentence adverb ] apparently or purportedly, but perhaps not actually : portrayed as a blue-collar type, ostensibly a carpenter.
I've been using it a lot lately. Thanks term papers.
