Weekly Roundup: first week of spring quarter

Well, my final quarter as an undergraduate student began this week. It's unsettling, knowing that four years ago, I was wide-eyed, naive, and so overwhelmed by the quarter system that I almost failed all my classes. Now, I'm accepted into graduate school, working, running a student organization, editing the Classics department publication, writing an honors thesis, and somehow, against all odds, I haven't lost my mind yet. (I know right where it is. In the liquor cabinet.) I managed to score a schedule where I don't have to be on campus until either noon or 2 pm. I know, soon enough, I will be using that morning time to write haphazard drafts of my thesis. But for now, I am enjoying it.

Conquering the first week blues with green juice!

Featuring a myriad of songs about school days including, but not limited to, Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag" (because despite not having 'teen' in my age in four years, this song still applies), Skye Sweetnam's great classic "Billy S." and Grease 2's opening number "Back To School Again" by The Four Tops, from which my playlist takes its name.

Food: Dave's Killer Bread has been helping me trudge through the first week. I've got a loaf of thin sliced Good Seed, but I want to try Powerseed and Blues Bread! Since I spend Tuesdays and Thursdays on campus until 7:30 pm (going to night school this quarter!) I've also been doing salad in a jar. Quinoa, dried cranberries, raisins, almonds, chia and flax seeds, avocado, goat cheese and arugula are just some of my favorite things to throw in a mason jar in the morning. Come lunchtime, add oil and vinegar, shake, and eat!

Television: NBC's Hannibal continues to be the weirdest show I've ever seen on a network channel, and the one that I'm least likely to be snacking while watching. I was thinking about doing a viewing party tonight where we eat chicken fingers and drink Bloody Marys. This week, Hannibal throws a dinner party, why can't I?

Internets: "Youtube duet: Miles Davis improvising on LCD Soundsystem" Definitely my favorite thing on my blog feed this week, and definitely something you should just watch rather than have me explain.

Beauty: Recently I treated myself to some beauty items, because I rarely do and why not? Next year, I'll be in grad school and even poorer than I am now. I may be obsessed with LUSH's Turkish Delight now. I want to smell like this all the time. An open letter to LUSH: make this ish in lotion and perfume. I will singlehandedly make sure they are bought. I'm also loving Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara and while I am not sure about that, I love some big lashes and this delivers.
