Weekly Roundup: midterms

Ah yes, it's midterm season. Luckily, this last quarter is a breeze and I am taking two classes, so I only have two. Latin kicked my ass, as it usually does. History probably went better, but who knows? I feel any will to get work done dissipating as the weeks progress. It's a miracle I'm still updating this blog. I think it's only because I get to blab about pop culture.

Midterms: powered by Trader Joe's
Music: Last Sunday, I saw one of my favorite bands, The National, at one of my favorite venues, the Greek Theater in Berkeley. It was the best concert I've been to in a very long time. They played almost all my favorite songs (ignoring the fact that all of their songs are my favorite songs) and Matt Berninger has an amazing stage presence. He even dragged his corded mic with him when he came through the crowd during one of the last songs! And the famous Bob Weir came out to play with them during the encore, which was an awesome surprise. Here's a playlist of their setlist.
Food: The Bloody Mary. In the words of Sterling Archer, blessed are you among cocktails. I have inadvertently been on a Mary quest this last weekend, enjoying them in La Jolla before the wedding and both airport bars before my flights. (What a treat when my flight home was delayed and I got to order another one!) I will at least sort of enjoy almost any Bloody Mary I try, but it takes something special for me to really consider it one of the greats. These include, but aren't limited to, Roxy's Vets Club in Mt. Shasta, the Nines hotel bar in Portland, and the one made by my mother or uncle.

Television: No question, this week's shout out goes to Orphan Black. Despite already having many shows to catch up on, I started it on a whim and devoured the first season in a little over 24 hours. I don't want to give too much away because it is so worth not being spoiled but, where is Tatiana Maslany's Emmy?!

Fitness: The Better-Sex Workout from Women's Health. Even if you're not getting any, this four move workout is awesome, can be done pretty much anywhere, and hits all the target areas: bum, thighs, and core.
